Open Play.

A Level Project | 1 month | 2021 A gender inclusive, flat packable, open plan dolls house that allows more children to play and interact with each other at any one time. Traditional dolls houses on the market often feature three outer walls, leaving only one open cavity for children to access the rooms inside and play. This limits the amount of children that can play together at any one time, my solution to this problem is eliminating the outer walls completly resulting in open plan design that children can reach into and access from all angles bringing more children together and enhancing social play. Brief: Design a product that is fully flatpack and can be assembled easily by children with no additional fittings or fixings.

The untreated wooden finish was an intentional design decision resulting in a blank canvas allowing children to customise Open Play however they please. Whether through stickers, wallpaper or crayon doodles, the creative opportunies are endless.

Becuase of this feature and its flat-packable nature the Open Play Collection is not just a set of dolls houses. Built, decorated and used in role play by children, the collection facilitates a range of different play styles inlcuding constructive play, imaginative play and social play into a single product, maintaing a childs intrest.
